Introduction to FASHION STYLING FOR THE MEDIA Course details

This course will give participants the opportunity to learn both theory and the practical aspects of fashion styling for the media and to teach them how to create an overall styled image.

Here are a few jobs that the Fashion Styling for the Media course will prepare you for:

Magazine Fashion editor or Magazine Fashion Stylist, Wardrobe on Movie sets or TV commercials, Newspaper fashion pages, Music Video fashion styling, Celebrity Styling/Dressing, Advertising - billboards, Ads, catalogs.. There are so many jobs out there but not enough people to fill them.

The course includes:

  • The role of an editorial stylist
  • Other stylist job roles including image consulting, make-over styling, commercial styling, Show and fashion parade styling and personal shopping
  • Sourcing of clothes and accessories
  • Show and catwalk Make-Up
  • Photography trends
  • Professional equipment used
  • Casting of models
  • Receiving and giving briefs
  • The role of the styling assistant
  • Understanding target markets
  • How to research trends in fashion and beauty
  • What to do on a shoot
  • Pre and Post production
  • Hair and beauty trends
  • Art direction
  • Developing your portfolio, C.V. and cover letter
  • Producing your own shoots
  • Breaking into the industry and finding jobs

The aim of the course is to provide students with an understanding of all aspects of creating fashion images. Participants will also undertake two photographic assignments (Photo shoots) where students will be required to cast, concept and produce their own photographic shoots leaving the course with a select portfolio (like this) relevant to individual areas of interest. Preparing students for entry level into the fashion industry.

Price:$2750 (incl GST)

Duration: Monday to Friday 10am - 4pm for two weeks (shoot days will be 08.30am - 6pm)
