About the AUSTRALIAN FASHION ACADEMY.
Original founder of the Australian Fashion Academy, Talei Watene originally from Australia, started her career as a fashion stylist in London working for Company magazine, she was later appointed fashion editor for Australian Consolidated Press in Auckland New Zealand on Cleo and She magazines.
After several years Talei commenced her freelance career on several other well known publications and also worked in other areas of fashion styling such as advertising, music videos, television, set dressing and personal shopping.
During her career in New Zealand Talei was constantly encouraged by other industry professionals to establish a training course to help people enter this exciting industry. The Australian Fashion Academy is now a reality with the first courses starting early 2005.
Australian Fashion Academy prides itself on the fact that the tutors, photographers and highly sought after guest speakers are all experienced industry professionals who teach the courses but still work within the fashion industry.
This allows the tutors to pass on invaluable 'insider' knowledge to students, on the latest technologies, techniques and ever changing trends and opportunities within the fashion industry. Our students learn by way of practical and theoretical skills. Do not pass by the opportunity to gain the invaluabe insider knowledge that can be only gained by learning from someone with the industry experience like that of Talei Watene.
Australian Fashion Academy has now become part of the Australian Institute of Creative Design, a leading creative industries college based in Varsity Lakes on the Gold Coast offering high quality training in fashion design, beauty therapy, make-up, styling and interior design. Talei still remains the teacher of the Fashion Styling for the Media and Fashion Make-Up & Hair Styling courses, but all course enrolments and enquiries are directed through the Australian Institute of Creative Design.
The two courses offered, Fashion Styling for the Media and Fashion Hair & Make-up, are taught through lectures, demonstrations and practical assignments. Australian Fashion Academy understands that that this is a very sought after industry so we aim to provide students with everything they need to know to embark on a career within the media industries.
